Asexual Reproduction in the News

Take a look at this article.
It is about cloning and how people (farmers) want to sell cloned animals for meat for people to eat.
As you will see, some people have strong opinions about this.
What are yours?

Wow Mr. Ardito. Wow. Listening to that podcast actually did make me sleepy!

This podcast that I listened to was a RadioLab production, part of WNYC radio. It was about sleep.

*Review*
This podcast was very interesting. In the beginning of the podcast, the guy voicing it sounded sleepy himself, which I felt was appropriate as the whole thing is on sleep. It wasn't bad though. (I've survived through worse moments that I'm not going to talk about over the internet).

*Reflection*
I liked this because it was a unique experience as I'm so used to going and looking up articles at the New York Times website and I just never thought that you could use a podcast to do your blog work. I didn't like the fact though that the podcast was so long. I'd like a shorter one next time. I really think I didn't learn anything from this article for reasons I'm yet again not going to talk about.

WNYC New York Public Radio
Sleep

I learned that a lot of animals sleep with one half of the brain at a time. It is called uni-hemispheric sleep. I learned that the reason that you don’t sleep as well in a bed that you are not used to is because of a danger alarm in your head. This alarm causes you to not sleep as deeply because of the danger of being killed. Sleep is related to homeostasis because your body recharges and renews wile you are asleep. Without it you would end up like Hannah Pallen from the audio report, all cranky and irritated. It also repairs your muscles, bones, tendons, and everything ells. Sleep is related to memory because when you sleep your brain softens of all of the unimportant memories so that the important memories stand out more. What I really thought was cool was the fact that your brain does so much stuff while you are at your least aware state. It practically replays your whole day in your head in just the first two hours of sleep. I liked and disliked listening to the report as apposed to reading it. I thought it was more enjoyable and easier to stay alert wile listening, but it will be harder to remember on the long term. I don’t think that the reporter used that much humor during the report. What I still want to know is what sleep really is. Not in a whole bunch of little facts and tidbits of information, but the big picture. What IS sleep?

I enjoyed listening to the report.
