Gardening Links - DUE TUESDAY

Here is the place to collect the links you have found for our garden.

This set of links should be about:
  • Resources that will help us plan the layout the garden
  • Resources that we can use to help us take care of the garden

For the ones you post here, please write a sentence or two that explains why you think the site is useful.

For example:
Growing Plants Indoors
I thought this site was useful because it tells about growing plants indoors, which we will need to do until Spring comes.

Here are some links I found for the Garden

http://www.helpfulgardener.com/vegetable/2003/vegetable.html

This website has some good information on the planning and putting together of a vegetable garden. It talks about vegetables that grow well together, where to plant them, ect. This will help us if we want to make the garden, or part of the garden, a vegetable garden.

http://www.organicgardentips.com/vegetable_gardening.html

This site has some tips on making and planning the garden also. It seems like it has some good information on it, because it talks about Planning and Companion Planting and Nitrogen Fixation (it has something to do with the type of air the plants need).

http://www.organicgardentips.com/

There are so many tips on this site, that it is hard to even scratch the surface! There is a lot of information that should probably be able to help us in some way.

http://www.mysticwatersandgardens.com/frostzonemap.jpg

This is a map of the different gardening zones in the United States. This is important because some plants don’t grow well in some places, so this map will help us tell EXACTLY which plants grow the best in Croton, and what will grow best in our garden. We can use this map to figure out which zone we are, and pick the best plants.

http://www.lowes.com/lowes/lkn?action=pg&p=LawnGarden/zonenum6.html

Here is a BIG list of some plants that grow well in Zone 6, which is our approximate zone. Some of these plants are also on the Zone 5 list so I think we can also plan some zone 5 plants. It would be easy to compare some of the plants on the list to the ones that were studied when we did it is class, so we could make sure everything will be in the best conditions to flourish.

These are my links to the sites:

http://www.weekendgardener.net/
With this site you can sign up with your e-mail address and you will get a tip newsletter every month each being different.

http://www.helpfulgardener.com/tips/
Once you scroll down the page a little bit on this site, you will get some useful information. At the top up the site, there is nothing that good except for some links to other sites and pages.

http://www.gardenguides.com/how-to/tipstechniques/
This site is very specific. You narrow down your search by first clicking on a few links, which decides what you want to look at exactly. (My personal favorite one.)
